The camp will be happening on 31 March – 1 April 2007 (it's no April Fool's joke!), location – within the Klang Valley (exact location will be confirmed closer to camp date).

As the name suggests, IGC focuses on equipping graduating university students with specific skills to facilitate job-hunting. In a nutshell, IGC will be a guide through the job-hunting process, from composing an attention-grabbing resume, getting through the all-important interview and helping job-seekers to match their profile, skills, academic knowledge to suitable jobs.

Best of all, some Buddhist business leaders will be there to share their experiences too! Hint: this could be the start of building YOUR own business network with your peers, young Buddhist professionals, and industry leaders.

Stay tuned on the who's who in IGC, and profiles of leaders who is contributing to IGC too. Meanwhile, if you think that you would like to learn how Buddhist values can give you a leg-up in accelerating your career, feel free to leave your comments here in this blog!

some may be wondering why 2nd graduate camp. were there a 1st graduate camp? or is it our publicity team's gimmick. yes, indeed this is the 2nd incovar graduate camp. the 1st one was held somewhere in 2000 or 2001. i dont really remember. i was the facilitator that time, helping out to facilitate groups, etc. our very first batch of participants comes mostly from mmu (if you remember yehim, kokwai, etc) and sue san - brahma of my heart? yea, she was one of the participants too that time. see how successful these people have become - writing songs, hongkong, etc. well what are you waiting for? fill up the form and come to the 2nd IGC. you already missed the 1st one. and 3rd, yea, of course it is coming but do you want to wait? hei, its your future, your career path, your life. YOU DECIDE!!!

* do you even know how to write a good resume?
I use JobStreet Template. No problem at all.

* do you have what it takes to survive in the corporate world?
What do you mean? If I'm not surviving I would have either killed myself or become a monk. So I guess everyone who are still having a job or having their own business are surviving in the corporate world hor?

*have you planned for your future?
Wonder how many of the committee members did...

Haha... MJ you very cute lah.

So if I give you a position Toilet Manager, salary 1k, will you take it? Manager mah.

Are you sure playing corporate taichi is not against Buddhist teaching? Keep in mind, 5 precepts and 8 fold path.... of coz 4 noble truths.

See... You're craving, craving for a manager post... so you're suffering, suffering from learning the playing rules of corporate taichi. So how do you stop the suffering? Stop your dream of being a manager lah.

Beach boy, sure, anyone can also write job application based on templates. But, but, templates are templates and it's still a template. Job application is not like, one size fits all. Different employers look for different aspects, so it’s up to you to highlight your strengths according to their needs. Plus, since the JobStreet Template is publicly available, it means there are probably 10000+++ people using the same template! Your job application should stand above the crowd, not be in the crowd, if you want your application to be shortlisted.

How many committees plan for their future? Hmmm....not in a position to comment for all, but I know quite of us do and for those who don't, this is a good opportunity to encourage us to plan!

I totally AGREE with you. However, IGC is for fresh grads. As a freshgrad, you'll be fighting for the same position with a few hundred or even thousands of ppl. Most interviewers that I know and had shared experience with me says they never had the time to even look at the resume (common sense!). Instead what they look for is a good cover letter and most importantly a pleasant looking passport size photo of applicants. Yes, face it, it is real. They prefer to hire someone who is beautiful/handsome or at least pleasant looking. Resume or what you achieved academically is secondary.

2nd option is has internal referrals. Ask your seniors/relatives/friends who are working in the company to give recommendation on you.

3rd option is join Jobstreet's PriorityApplication. Give some money and for sure your resume is highlighted and prioritize to the company.

So is still writing a super duper personalised resume important? Think again...
